2022 Vintage Review

Vintage 2022 started in late February and finished 6 weeks later.

It was another challenging season but we are very happy with the resultant wines.

The growing season was a long, difficult one with a lot of rain and this certainly presented us with plenty of obstacles. The commitment from the team to leave no stone unturned in out in the vines meant we got through another season. Our third vintage of the pandemic and a great effort by everyone to navigate our way in these uncertain times!

Cool and wet conditions through the flowering period affected the fruit set in Pinot Noir and subsequently we were presented with a low yielding year, approximately 50% below our average. Luckily, yields in our other varieties were not so badly affected and gave us plenty of fruit to play with in the winery. It’s early days but all the wines have a bright and vibrant look about them with some lovely complexity in the red wines, as always, time will tell!

For now, they will have a rest in barrel through the winter months before we bottle later in the year.
